Shop Helper / Porter
Sterling West CDJR/GMC in Jennings, LA is seeking a dependable and hardworking Shop Helper/Porter to support our service department operations. This individual will play a key role in maintaining a clean and safe work environment for our technicians, while also assisting with occasional errands such as picking up vehicle parts or supplies. Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Sweep, mop, and maintain clean floors in the service bays and shop area
- Empty trash cans throughout the shop and dispose of waste properly
- Clean and organize technician work areas and common shop spaces
- Assist with general shop upkeep, including pressure washing and light facility maintenance as needed
- Drive to local vendors or nearby locations to pick up vehicle parts or materials (company vehicle provided)
- Help with moving vehicles within the lot when necessary
- Follow all safety protocols and guidelines to ensure a safe working environment for yourself and your colleagues
- Perform other duties as assigned to support technicians and service staff
Qualifications:
- Reliable transportation to and from work
- Ability to work independently and take initiative
- Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs and work on your feet for extended periods
- Prior experience in a similar role is a plus, but not required
- Strong work ethic, punctuality, and attention to detail
- Must be willing to submit to pre-employment background check & drug screen
- Must have a valid driver's license with a clean driving record, and be at least 18 years of age due to insurance purposes
- Minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent is required
Schedule: Full-time
Starting pay: $12/hr
